Last Post?

It is the last post!!!!!
Or is it?
Well, guys this is it!
I have done so many things with this board game idea that (to be honest i got a little lost). Anyway I have made a CRITICAL decision that might help me get my board game done for good.
1. I focused on one of the body systems.
I feel a bit disappointed because I thought I could make a board game incorporating the 11 body systems. But I do believe that this is the best way to do it.
I hope that this decision makes the board game more interesting. Trust me when i tell you that i tried my best but I just do not have the imagination to incorporate all 11 systems.
Haha  ;)
I wish you all luck on the presentation and for what is left of the project!!!

Where I stand today..

for today's post I just want to update the audience.
I have done the board game and I hope to show you pictures next post. I have the cards needed to play.
I also want to say that as of right now I have learned a lot about the way gameboards are made. It is not easy at all. I think the reason why is they you as the creator have so many ideas in mind that you want to apply to the same gameboard you (or me,hehe) are not able to concentrate in what is important for real. What I have just described has been my struggle throughout the project. Oh well having said that, I have no more updates to make.

I found this really cool article in the New York Times. It ties nicely with our Anatomy and physiology unit and so I want to share it with you!!!!

The reading was about the VAGUS NERVE: which sends impulses to all major organs. This was a study done by Kevin Tracey. His whole theory was to use electricity to stimulate the immune cells to stop an inflammatory response in a rat. He explained that this electricity treatment could replace the drug industry, because it is basically telling the body to heal itself by comunicating with impulses.
But like everything there are some challenges and one of those in the "bio electronics" field is actually translating or even figuring out what message to send to the body.
The article goes in much more detail but it is a really god article.

This is the link to the actal article:

Tell me what you think about it in the comments.

And that is all for today!!

information about the digestive system

 Function:
Convert food into energy
Food passes through the Gastro-Intestinal Track.
The GI includes:
Oral Cavity, Pharynx, Esophagus, Stomach, Small intestine, and Large intestine.
Accessory organs include:
Teeth, tongue, salivary glands, Gallbladder, liver, pancreas.

The process of obtaining that energy is as follows

  • Ingestion: Eat food
  • Secretion: Saliva secrets enzymes that help "dissolve" part of the food
  • Mixing and movement: Stomach takes the "dissolved food and mixes it so to allow food to be digested.
  • Digestion
  • Absorption In the small intestine Food is being absorbed (only the nutrients)
  • Excretion: All the food that is not absorbed is secreted. Goes as waist.

Update about the game plan

So how long has it been since the start of this blog?
I can tell you. I LONG TIME!!!
Really I don't know how I am going to pull off this game board! Right now I have no end goal.
To be honest I have to many ideas for this "clue style" game.
So let me enlighten you with my frustration…LOL
In one hand I have this drive to destroy all the pieces I have made and literally start over.
But at the same time I think I could add more stuff to the game. If I follow this second option I would add more description to the clues that way people whoa are just starting to learn the organs know more.
So, maybe I could  give the player  a card with an organ and then give a brief explanation of what it is and based on that and a map of the position of the organ describe see what other organ is affected or is causing the defect on the rest.

The Organ Map will look something like this but prettier

What about this Blog System?

What about this Blog System?

Welcome to the not so yet defined world of the 20 time!!!!!
Well, if you do not know what is 20 Time you are in luck because I will explain it to you.
20 time is this new concept introduced in some schools to allow 20% of whatever class you are taking to do something that truly interests you.
Yey!!
Now, for my 20 time I decided to create a board game to explain the organ systems in the body. To be completely honest i have so many ideas that I do not know if where to start.
Anyway, I wanted to do this project because I believe that the people should be able to know all (well as much as a game can fit) about the organ systems.
I plan to post pictures of "the progress of the board game." In addition I would love to post extra information about the systems, because it is a good thing to know what the game is about and it is fun to learn these things (of course if you are into it).

Well, thats all for now.

Oh! I almost forgot please if you have any ideas about the game or any complains about it please tell me. It is helpful information.
;)
Now, it is truly all.
